The NVS M646 6X RAPTOR is a GEN III MILSPEC dedicated
weapon sight. Designed for large bore and crew-served weapons,
the 6X RAPTOR can identify a man-sized target at up to 2425 meters and
is capable of achieving extreme long range accuracy. The 6X
RAPTOR incorporates the latest state-of-the-art GEN III Image
Intensification Tube technology, making it one of the most accurate
night vision weapon sight available.
The 6X RAPTOR is ideally suited for use with big bore
sniper rifles and mounted machine guns. It’s extremely rugged
construction will easily stand up to the recoil of large
calibers. Yet, it is light enough to be at home on squad
automatic weapons including the M240B. The RAPTOR’s shock
protected optics will easily handle sustained fire from automatic
weapons. One thing to keep in mind is the overall size of the
optic’s housing that might preclude its use on some weapons with
flip-up feed tray covers or smaller weapon platforms.
The 6X RAPTOR features one of the largest objective
lenses we have seen to date. You actually have to see it to
believe it. This enormous piece of glass collects an incredible
amount of light, providing one of the sharpest images available in an
image intensification scope. To protect the system, the RAPTOR
series features an advanced Bright Source Protection that will
automatically shut down the optic after 70 seconds exposure to bright
light, saving the image intensifier tube from damage. The 6X
RAPTOR uses a variable brightness mildot reticle with full windage and
elevation adjustment. However, the reticle brightness can be
completely dialed down, making it invisible, and allowing the unit to
be used as an observation platform; perfect for reconnaissance and
surveillance duties. The shuttered eye guard keeps the back
splash of green light from escaping (giving away the operator’s
position), though it has been our experience that it places the unit
too close to the shooter’s eye on larger caliber weapons. This
can be fixed by removing the wedges on the shuttered eye guard.
The 6X RAPTOR is the apex of image intensification night
vision scopes. It’s resolution and clarity is unmatched and it is
ideally suited for multiple roles in the field. Whether perched
atop an M82A3 in a barren valley of Afghanistan or mounted on a tripod
on overwatch outside a crack house, the 6X RAPTOR is the best and most
versatile extended range night vision scope available.
